Behind the Scenes Q3 & Q4 2024

Waypoint Team

Celebrating 15 Years! Waypoint celebrated 15 years in business in July and enjoyed a memorable day in Sonoma together. They shared a delightful food and wine pairing at Rams Gate Winery before heading to Gloria Ferrer to soak up the sun and wrap up their unforgettable day together.

In October, the team gathered in Mill Valley to participate in a series of insightful workshops aimed at fostering personal and professional growth. One key session focused on the Clifton Strengths assessment. This is an on-going tool used at Waypoint to gain a deeper understanding of individual strengths and create stronger team dynamics, better conversations and increased collaboration. Additionally, Waypoint explored the importance of personal values and how aligning these values with individual and team objectives creates a greater sense of meaning and purpose.

2024 ended on an exciting note as Waypoint expanded its team, welcoming two new members, Rachel Sowers and Jill Rea. We couldn’t be more thrilled to have them on board!

Chuck

The last half of 2024 was full of adventure for Chuck.  He celebrated his partner Paula's 60th birthday exploring Southwestern Utah with highlights including paragliding and hiking the full length of the Narrows in Zion National Park.  In late July was 50th anniversary celebration of the lifeguard department Chuck spent 10 summers working for in San Clemente CA. Then he capped off the year by visiting Paula's birthplace in the Czech Republic and also did some hiking in the High Tatra Mountains of Slovakia.

Courtney

The second half of 2024 was filled with fun trips and new memories for the Hutchinson Family! They took their annual trips to NC and Mexico in July and visited cousins in WA in November for Thanksgiving. In August, Ella turned 7 and started 2nd grade and Riley turned 4 and started Pre-K. Ella continues to love her art and soccer, and Riley learned how to swim on her own and ride her pedal bike! TJ and Courtney celebrated their October birthdays in beautiful Dillon Beach with friends. December was a busy month with many special moments, including learning how to ice skate and riding the cable car in SF to the life sized gingerbread house!

Jesse

For Jesse and Matthias, life with their new baby Matilda has been a wild, wonderful ride since she made her debut in June. Matilda’s days are filled with grandparent cuddles, an endless quest to taste-test the world, and front-row seats to the best porch concerts in New Orleans. Every giggle, grab, and groove remind them just how sweet this season of life is!

——

Rania

The second half of the year was an exciting one for Rania as she spent the summer in NYC. This gave her an opportunity to enjoy all that the city offers such as great food and endless culture. One of her favorite things was getting a bagel to-go and walking into Central Park to enjoy it amongst the lush trees and the beautiful scenery. While living there she had several visitors who made her feel like a local as she showed them her favorite places to eat, drink and watch the city go by. Rania created a lifetime of memories from her time in NYC and is grateful to have had the opportunity.

Dan

Since joining Waypoint in August, Dan took his first trip to San Francisco and made the most of his time exploring while not working: Annette took him up Slacker Hill, Chuck introduced him to In-and-Out, and he enjoyed a run through Muir Woods.

Halloween is a family favorite, and this year’s costumes blended Harry Potter and werewolves. Dan shaved his beard as he donned Lord Voldemort and the dark marks. Kevin was Lucius Malfoy (with a staff and wand that he created), Ingrid was Ginny Weasley, and Mack & Kate were werewolves.

Each November, Dan drives across the Midwest to visit family in St. Louis and Indiana. The kids enjoyed catching up with grandparents and cousins, and the whole family took advantage of crisp Midwest hikes—Dan swears late fall and winter are the best times for hiking there: no bugs and crunchy leaves. During the Christmas season, he took Ingrid to see her first musical where they watched the Littler Mermaid live on the stage (her mind was blown!). Christmas was spent as quiet day with only the core family, where the only required outing was an afternoon family walk – a great way to end the holiday season!

Anabel

Anabel had a wonderful past few months and finished the year feeling positive and full of life. This was likely due to her trip to Maui, where she enjoyed the beautiful calmness of the island and absorbed all the positive energy it has to offer, along with the kindness of its people. Anabel loved spending time visiting local sites and took a picture with a surfboard decorated with an image of a person in a deep meditative state, as meditation is something she enjoys regularly. She also relished the scenery the island had to offer and enjoyed seeing cats roaming around, making their homes in some of the most beautiful spots on the island. The Maui cats are living the dream!

River

This past quarter has been a transformative time for River. In September, he joined Waypoint Wealth Partners, where the supportive, collaborative culture has been nothing short of inspiring. Surrounded by a team driven by kindness, excellence, and shared success, River has felt truly at home.

River also achieved a significant milestone by passing the CFP® exam, solidifying his commitment to guiding clients toward their financial goals with expertise and care. In addition, he helped organize the Financial Planning Association of San Francisco's Financial Planning Day, where over 130 community members received free, objective, no-strings attached financial advice. Outside of work, River enjoyed golfing, surfing, and exploring nature with friends and family, staying grounded and balanced.

Lindsay

The second part of 2024 was a time to remember! Lindsay and Noah tied the knot in a very intimate ceremony (whoo hoo!!). Charlie started her sophomore year while CJ is in his last year of middle school as an 8th grader. We were in the front row for an EPIC Jamie Johnson concert! Lindsay has her first (permit) driver in the house; Mom is more than excited to relinquish the role of chauffeur soon. We were missing a couple family members for Christmas this year, but our amazing children keep the light alive. Truly blessed.

Avelina

The second half of 2024 was packed with fun moments for Avelina. She got to experience the thrill of axe throwing for the very first time. She was hooked instantly, feeling the excitement with every throw! Avelina and Tyler enjoyed a relaxing getaway to Monterey and Carmel, filled with scenic hikes and savoring sunny days at the beach with their dog, Chunk. The close of the year brought a chance to reflect on all the wonderful memories made. Avelina can't wait to see what 2025 brings!

——

Rachel

The second half of 2024 was full of adventure and life changes for Rachel. It started out with a hut-to-hut hiking trek through the Dolomites in northern Italy, followed by a few weeks in Richmond, VA with family and friends before driving across the country with her husband and dog to Sonoma County- their new home! Rachel had a wonderful fall enjoying wine country, horseback riding regularly, exploring nearby hiking trails, and spending time with nearby family she has always lived across the country from. She even got a ski weekend in at Tahoe in December. A standout moment was her job offer from WWP in October, and she’s looking forward to some exciting financial planning work and conferences this year!

Jill

The second half of 2024 was filled with meaningful moments and new adventures for Jill. Highlights included a relaxing family trip to Maui and a visit to the Monterey Bay Aquarium with the boys. Jill welcomed visits from dear friends and celebrated Refugia Marin’s latest milestone—where, as board president, she helped plant 350 native plants in Corte Madera’s Town Park to expand their thriving habitat garden. A food-and-adventure-filled trip to Chicago with her sister-in-law Michelle added even more excitement, along with plenty of pasta-making, sourdough baking, and experimenting with new treats in the kitchen. She also discovered a love for Black Manhattans, now the official “Rea house cocktail.” Other highlights included volunteering at San Francisco Financial Planning Day, adopting Link, the leopard gecko, and wrapping up the year with a trip to Scottsdale to visit family and ring in the New Year.
