Behind the Scenes Q3 & Q4 2023

Waypoint Team

The second half of 2023 was an active and fun-filled time for the Waypoint Team. We came together in-person for our October Team Retreat in SF and for our December Holiday Lunch in Sausalito at Annette’s home. Highlights included a fun day of pickle ball in the sunshine with a team tournament bringing out our team’s inner competitive spirit. The winners walked away with bragging rights and a jar of pickles as the trophy. Our Holiday Lunch was a memorable event filled with fun, laughter and delicious food. Our in-person time is important to all of us and we are grateful for these memories together.

Chuck

The second half of 2023 was full of family and adventure for Chuck. Chuck and partner Paula hiked the Tour De Mt. Blanc route in the Alps to check off a lifetime bucket list item. Chuck hosted 18 family members for Thanksgiving, celebrated his dad’s life with his two sisters Vikki and Betsy and explored Death Valley with his daughter Genny.

Rania

Rania continues to enjoy living in San Diego and the exciting opportunities it affords. Many friends and family travel to San Diego for vacation and she is always happy to host, she uses it as an opportunity to further explore the town and surrounding areas. Her friend Jenn visited from DC and they decided to go paragliding over the La Jolla coast line. While flying above the ocean, she watched five dolphins play in the waves and got close-up views of the cliffside homes. With a trained guide, the gliding experience was effortless as they traveled on the air currents.

Becca

Becca kept busy throughout the third quarter of 2023. She went to Burning Man, completed her first half marathon, travelled to NY to see her family, and northern California for a friend’s wedding. She had a nice time with her family in NY and enjoyed taking morning walks with her dad. One of her favorite memories from the Burn was a Tycho sunrise set under the full moon at the trash fence. With all the heavy rain, it was a unique year, but she appreciated the opportunity to witness the community come together to share resources and boost morale – it was an unforgettable week! Becca spent the last quarter of the year mostly in the Sierra mountains enjoying the fall colors and change in weather. She went on local hikes and bagged “Reversed Peak” at 9,481 ft. elevation. The last few weeks of the year she spent in Hawaii enjoying quality time with family and meeting her new niece.

Jesse

Lionfish, tiger sharks, and barracuda, oh my! Jesse and Matthias saw all that and more on their belated honeymoon trip in September. They spent a week sightseeing and eating through Istanbul, before heading south for a week-long scuba dive trip in the Maldives. After their COVID-era wedding, they were so excited to take this bucket list trip and experience a tropical paradise from the comfort of their first liveaboard scuba boat.

Avelina

Avelina spent the second half of 2023 enjoying many outdoor activities! The hot summer weather lasted longer than expected in Sacramento which allowed for numerous paddle board and kayak trips. Paddleboarding has become Avelina’s newest hobby and has encouraged her to explore and venture out to areas of Northern California. As summer came to an end fall brought in the cooler weather, changing of the leaves, and of course would not be complete without a pumpkin patch visit. Avelina also attended a holiday light exhibit which felt like a winter wonderland.

Anabel

Anabel has been having a blast over the past few months, visiting her local art museum, marveling at the gorgeous dahlias grown by her community members and heading off to San Luis Obispo. Not to forget, she's been keeping her pup, Arlo, in the loop with dog training classes. During her museum visit, Anabel was swept away by a light show featuring local art. Two displays that left her amazed were the Kindness Tree, where people could jot down and stick kind notes on the tree, and an art dancing tour. This unique tour allowed participants to throw on headphones, groove to lively tunes, and read positive words lit up around the museum.

Anabel, being a flower enthusiast, also visited a Dahlia exhibit, showcasing an array of stunning blooms grown by her community members. Of course, she made sure to take a picture of her all-time favorite Dahlia during her visit. Adding a beachy twist to her adventures, Anabel spent some quality time visiting different beaches in San Luis Obispo and catching the sunset with her pup, Arlo. And, as always, Arlo is still attending pup training classes to gain confidence and work towards being a certified good boy!

Lindsay

Lindsay’s family had an action-packed second half of 2023. Charlie started high school and received the Student of the Month award in October. She also killed it on the basketball court, leading her team in steals and assists. Lindsay took CJ to his first college football game (go Mizzou!) with some of his buddies. While he enjoys football, basketball is his true passion. Noah and Lindsay went to several outdoor concerts and brought two of the girls to a few. Christmas is always a special time when all of the kids can get together for a bit and goof off. Noah and Lindsay even had time to sneak away to PSU game (another win!).
