Waypoint Team
Q3 2022 was a busy one for the Waypoint Team! Although there were no in-person gatherings the team had a jam-packed quarter both on the work front and personal side. We are looking forward to spending some time in person next quarter when we will have our Team Retreat in October and our Annual Holiday Lunch in early December.

Chuck
Q3 took Chuck to places he loves the most – backpacking in the Eastern Sierra with girlfriend Paula and dog Agnew. Followed up by a once in a lifetime road trip up the West Coast of CA, through the Canadian Rockies and to Madison, WI where he dropped his daughter Genevieve off for her sophomore year of college.

Annette
Annette had a great summer culminating in her long-awaited trip to Mustang in the northern region of Nepal. “We booked this trip back in 2019 and are grateful that we could finally do it. We trekked through some spectacular landscape, imagine the Grand Canyon times 100 surrounded by the Himalayas, and the people were some of the kindest souls I had ever met. We visited a few schools in the villages we passed through and could feel the Buddhist tenants of kindness, compassion, patience and tolerance everywhere. The walls were lined with quotes of wisdom, one of my favorites was: A beautiful day starts with a beautiful mindset. That’s one of the many nuggets that I took away from this adventure and reference every morning when I wake up”.

Courtney
Courtney, TJ, Ella, and Riley had an extra fun Q3. Swimming lessons, summer camp, Marin County Fair with fireworks, pool time and beach time were some of the favorite activities. They also spent time with TJ’s family in Wilmington, NC and celebrated birthdays for both Ella (5) and Riley (2) in August. Ella started Kindergarten in August and Riley started her gymnastics class.

Becca
Becca went on a few big trips this past quarter. In July she hiked the Teton Crest Trail with friends. It was one of the most challenging backpacking trips she had been on. The group had to modify their route last minute due to the amount of snow over 9,000 ft but in total clocked close to 40 miles. She saw lots of wildlife including moose, marmots and even woke up to a large porcupine eating her husband’s straw hat. In September, she went on her long overdue honeymoon to Europe. She and her husband went to Berlin, Switzerland, and Dublin. A few highlights were paragliding in the Swiss Alps and visiting Jungfrau Mountain, also referred to as the Top of Europe, which is part of a UNESCO World Heritage site. “It was a beautiful experience and I feel very grateful I was able to take time to disconnect thanks to the help of the team while I was away.”

Lindsay
The end of summer was filled with excitement! The family headed down to Orange Beach, AL for last minute trip before school started. The weather was great, but the jellyfish were not, ouch. Charlie and CJ started 8th and 6th grade respectively. They are at the same school for a year which makes mom’s life a little easier. Charlie was a leader in assists in soccer and CJ caught a couple touchdowns in football. Lindsay made it out to PA to see some of her cousins and soak in another PSU win. Fun times!

Avelina
Avelina spent the third quarter enjoying every bit of summer that was left! She made it out on the American River for a fun afternoon rafting with friends and a few trips to Folsom Lake with her dog Chunk. She visited Napa for the first time with Rania where they did some wine tasting at Domaine Carneros. As September brought in the cooler weather and the start of the fall season, she got out of Sacramento to celebrate her birthday weekend at a cabin up north along the Trinity River.

Rania
This summer, Rania traveled to the coast of Oregon to soak in time with friends and the foggy coastal days. Since it was her first visit, she explored the small coastal towns and all they had to offer. The tidepools were the best with an array of sea creatures from large starfish to an array of sea anemones on full display waiting for the tide to roll back in. Other highlights included a stop at the Tillamook Creamery for delicious mac and cheese and ice cream, hiking to the Cape Meares lighthouse, and daily beach walks. She looks forward to another visit to see what else the Oregon coast has to offer.

Jesse
Jesse, Matthias, and Kona did their annual cross-country road trip to spend the summer in Portland, OR. They were excited to be back in an area with unlimited access to camping, hiking, and outdoor swimming activities – and they made the most of it! Jesse even did her first backpacking trip, spending two nights in the Mark O. Hatfield wilderness area near Mt. Hood. After an action-packed summer, they loaded up the car and drove back to New Orleans just in time for the cooler fall weather to arrive.
