Behind the Scenes Q3 2020

Team WWP

Since our last team picnic was such a success, the Waypoint Team got together again in early October for another team event. This time, with the addition of our two new team members - Jill Carothers and CJ Rose. We all gathered at the Presidio Main Parade Ground and the weather was perfect that day! We played a few fun games and enjoyed a nice lunch together. It was so nice to reconnect with each other in person and integrate our newest team members into our Waypoint community.

Chuck

Chuck spent most of the third quarter navigating working from home with his son CJ, attending his sophomore year in college, and daughter Genny, attending her senior year in high school, in the same small house! Why does everyone want to use the kitchen at the same time – regardless of the time of day? By the time the quarter came to an end, CJ had found his way back to Cleveland (where he attends Case Western) and Chuck and a few friends created a COVID bubble and got away for 4 days of bike riding and camping in the Sierras. Genny was thrilled to be home alone for a few days – which she used to finish up her college applications!

Annette

Annette has been sticking close to home (like most everyone these days!) and is getting out on lots of hikes in the hills of Marin with her pod. “We are so lucky to live in such a beautiful place where we can enjoy nature within minutes of walking out our door. It’s been a wonderful way to connect and deepen my friendships with a tight group of girlfriends.” She also celebrated her 19th wedding anniversary with a picnic on Mt. Tam overlooking Stinson Beach and Bolinas. “Only during a pandemic can we have this place all to ourselves! One of the many silver linings we are grateful for.”

Courtney

Q3 2020 was an eventful one for Courtney!  She was busy getting all WWP items in order in preparation for maternity leave and then Riley Ava Hutchinson decided to arrive two weeks early on August 9th. Big sister, Ella was very excited to have a little sister and she also turned 3 later that month. Since then, the Hutchinson crew has been busy with family time and being outdoors as much as possible. This has included many hikes, a trip to Stinson Beach and a fun outing at the Nicasio Pumpkin Patch. Courtney also completed her 2-year program with the G2 Leadership Institute in October. This program is for next generation business owners in the wealth management industry with a focus on leadership and business management.

Jesse

Jesse, Matthias, and their puppy Kona spent July and August visiting with family in Portland. While enjoying the beautiful summer weather in the Pacific Northwest, they spent a long weekend boating on the Columbia River in the electric boat that Jesse’s dad built. “It was a cozy fit, but a great way to escape the news and stress of this crazy year!”

Rania

Rania has spent the past 2 years working towards completing the UC Berkeley Extension’s Personal Financial Planning program. This program is the academic foundation to learn all about the different aspects of financial planning. She then hunkered down for a few months, pulling out all her old college studying tricks to study and take the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ exam in September. She is excited to report that she PASSED! She is the newest addition to Waypoint’s growing team of CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professionals.

Rania also recently participated in Jenn Heflin’s WOMAN2020 portrait series which captures 20 women of different backgrounds and their firsthand experience right now on what needs to be done as a society to propel the next generation forward. Check out the link below to learn more about Rania and why she votes along with other inspirational women.

Dariusz

Since transitioning to working remotely this year, Dariusz has spent much of his time in Lake Tahoe. He has spent his weekends hiking all over Tahoe and finding some spectacular views. He took this photo from the top of Maggie’s Peak, which overlooks Emerald Bay, Cascade Lake, and Lake Tahoe. After watching the Netflix show “American BBQ Showdown,” Dariusz has been experimenting more in the kitchen, specifically barbequing and smoking meats. He has successfully barbequed and smoked ribs, al pastor, and pork shoulder. Needless to say, he has a long way to becoming a pit master, but he is enjoying it!

Avelina

Avelina has spent the last few months connecting with family and friends and getting outdoors! She spent a nice weekend up in North Lake Tahoe with her best friends while enjoying some beautiful hikes and even a swim in the lake while the weather was warm. “I’ve been trying to keep it local and recently took a day trip up to Half Moon Bay. I visited a few pumpkin patches, went on a great hike, and closed the day with a delicious meal from the famous Barbara’s Fishtrap. Due to all of the pandemic restrictions, I have been getting more creative and trying to find local safe activities that get me outdoors and exploring!”
