RIVER GALLAND
Client Service Associate
River Galland is a Client Service Associate at Waypoint Wealth Partners. He grew up in Mill Valley, CA, where his love for golf, surfing and the outdoors shaped a big part of who he is. River earned his Bachelor of Science in Financial Management from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. During his time there, he had the opportunity to work at a local broker-dealer and RIA. That experience was the foundation for his interest in the profession of financial planning. Later, he joined Yeske Buie as a Financial Planning Intern, where he got a firsthand look at what it means to build meaningful client relationships and provide truly personalized financial advice.
One of his proudest moments was helping Cal Poly become affiliated with the CFP® Board, ensuring that future students can pursue their CFP® designation through the program. River is thrilled to now be part of Waypoint Wealth Partners, where he can continue learning and helping clients achieve clarity, alignment, and progress in their financial lives.
What do you enjoy most about your role as a Client Service Associate?
I enjoy the opportunity to be a part of our clients' journeys, helping them organize and align their financial lives with their personal goals. The process of bringing clarity to complex situations is incredibly rewarding, and it’s fulfilling to see clients gain confidence in their financial futures.
What qualities make you good at your job?
I believe my attention to detail, perseverance, and client-first mindset are key to my success. I’m always looking for ways to improve processes, solve problems, and provide tailored solutions that meet each client’s unique needs. My ability to connect with people on both a personal and professional level allows me to build strong relationships with clients.
What makes you proud to be a part of the Waypoint team?
I’m proud to be part of a team that values more than just the numbers. Waypoint’s holistic approach to financial planning, focusing on aligning clients’ values and goals, resonates with my belief that financial advice should support an individual's overall life vision.
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?
The best advice I’ve ever received is to always focus on living your best life by embracing growth and continuous learning. Life is all about evolving—whether it’s in your career, relationships, or personal passions. The key is to never settle, always stay curious, and seek out opportunities that challenge you to grow. Every step forward, no matter how small, brings you closer to becoming the best version of yourself. This mindset has driven me both personally and professionally, and it’s something I strive to carry with me every day.
