DAN CAMPBELL, CFA
Director of Investments

As Director of Investments at Waypoint Wealth Partners, Dan’s role is about more than just numbers and strategy—it’s about helping people navigate the complexities of their financial lives with clarity and confidence. He works closely with the Chief Investment Officer to design and implement investment strategies tailored to each client’s unique goals and circumstances, intentional about making the investment process as simple and transparent as possible to ensure our clients feel supported every step of the way.

Before joining Waypoint, Dan spent 10 years at a national RIA, where he advised clients and financial advisors on portfolio design, investment selection, and market analysis. This experience helped him hone his ability to communicate complex financial concepts in a way that is easy to understand, while always keeping the focus on what matters most: the client’s long-term well-being.

Dan holds a Master of Science in Finance from Washington University in St. Louis and a Bachelor of Science in Economics from Truman State University. Dan is a CFA® Charterholder.

What qualities make you good at your job?

I believe that successful investing starts with a clear sense of purpose. My technical background in economics and finance gives me the expertise to build strong, well-designed portfolios. Investing can be emotional, and I take pride in helping clients manage their expectations and remain focused on their long-term goals. At the heart of everything I do is the belief that by staying true to our values and principles, we can achieve better outcomes for our clients.

What makes you proud to be a part of the Waypoint team?

It’s definitely the people! What makes Waypoint special is the genuine care we show for our clients and for each other. So much of what we do is about making sure every client feels heard, supported, and confident in the financial decisions they make. We collaborate extensively, work through problems together, and focus on doing the right thing to deliver the best possible outcomes for our clients. Being part of a team that makes a meaningful difference in people’s lives makes it easy to show up and do great work every day.

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?

The best advice I’ve ever received is that at some point, you have to stop thinking in terms of consequences and start focusing on the kind of person you want to become. I try to live by this, making decisions that help me grow into someone who is kind, thoughtful, and present—both for my family and our clients.

What do you love to do outside of work?

Outside of work, I get to spend most of my time with my wife and three kids (they’re a lot of fun!). Living in Colorado Springs, we love being outdoors, so you’ll typically find me mountain biking, trail running, hiking, or camping. We often try to sneak in at least one white-water rafting trip each summer as well. Keeping up with our kids’ hobbies and sports—swim, cross-country, and soccer—keeps life busy, but it’s always rewarding.
